In this book Kitty meets her friend Charlie who you might recognize from the first book of the series that took place in Yukon. One clue to another take her to Vienna, Nuremberg, Dachau, and Salzburg. Explore all this places with delicious food and loads of brain work in decoding cryptic codes given in creepy voices and chase the culprit all most of the Europe with Kitty Hawk in this book. I was feeling just like Kitty, it was like meeting an old friend.
I so missed his brothers too. If they were in this book it might have turned out unbelievably, extraordinarily, mind-bogglingly wonderful plot. His story about his first impression and experience in Roam was hilarious. He was more acting in this book than talking, totally opposite of his role in first book.
His explain-all-things and telling a story role was taken by Richard here whom Kitty met in previous book of the series. I was really surprised to see him back in this series too. I love this guy at the end. In fact all secondary characters were great.
Played their part well, especially Matteo. Kitty was as usual charming engaging narrator who did most of the smart work in the book.
She was good amateur detective cleverly and maturely handling the case in the series that can mark impression in readers mind and heart. What I liked- I liked the beginning of the book which was different from previous book as author had directly started it with Kitty in Roam meeting Charlie rather than telling about her journey from Ireland to Roam. Her experience in Amsterdam on the way was narrated later in the story along with arts info. All characters felt so realistic in the real places with real information and facts.
Plot was good and mystery was remarkable and author did it again, abundance of information. I learned lot about it along with famous artist and composures. I so loved Salzburg and picturesque description of that place. Most thought-provoking moment for both Kitty and readers of the book was their visit to Nuremberg and Dachau. Author has apologized many time in book about mathematical explanation of decoding but I would like to say that it was so nice and easily described also so so important part of the mystery.
Author kept me reading the book by placing one clue after another until the conclusion and big revelation in climax with great explanation and info. End and Epilogue was good but I felt there can be more to the story i explained below. The extra good- to-know info was great with little extra details and telling what was fact in the story or not.

Another minor thing, I wanted expected seeing Kitty going back home in Tofino and there to end book with her parents. As I was not seeing that considering this as last book of the series, should I think there will be another book in the series?
Well, that only author can tell and if it is so, I would so love to read it. Overall, it was awesome adventurous mystery with loads of things to know and learn that readers of all age would love to read.
Feb 28, Georgi rated it really liked it. Thank you to Iain Reading and Kelsey book publicity services for sending me a copy of this book in exchange for a review! This is the last book in the series, so far I hope. I definitely recommend this series, I think this would be a major hit for middle grade readers as well as young adult readers, Kitty Hawk meets up with her old friend, Charlie, in Rome, and the two become involved in a mysterious international intrigue.
They befriend a group of Italian siblings whose father has a dark past, and it's up to Kitty to follow the clues through secret codes, hidden rooms, and the disturbing history of several long-lost paintings by famous artists. As always, I adore Kitty's character. She is better than Nancy Drew! Her incredible kindness and insatiable curiosity propel her into the most marve Kitty Hawk meets up with her old friend, Charlie, in Rome, and the two become involved in a mysterious international intrigue.
Her incredible kindness and insatiable curiosity propel her into the most marvelous adventures. I love that her reaction to almost everything is, "Let's go! Let's find out!
Let's jump in! Ah, Charlie, my darling dear. Same old reliable Charlie. There are several times when Kitty and Charlie are in the middle of some insane crisis, and Kitty says something like, "I knew it would be okay, because Charlie was in control. He assesses the situation, and jumps in with a solution, or a well-placed punch to someone's jaw. But he's also content to sit back and let Kitty take the reins.
Does dating agency man in kitty hawk consider, that
He respects and appreciates her instincts and her flashes of brilliance. The two of them have such a great balance. I was completely enthralled with the mysterious plot!
Every clue that was solved only led to another question, another code, or another action-filled encounter with a thieving spy. I've always hated math, but I read every word of those complex math-based code-breaking scenes on the edge of my seat!
I especially loved the rich European history that is woven into the story, as Kitty and Charlie travel through Germany, Austria, and Italy. My only complaint is that I thought the ending was weak.
There is some resolution, but many questions are left unanswered. I needed to know more in so many areas of the story, and I was disappointed. Kitty was disappointed too, so at least we were in there together. Not only was the mystery sort of left hanging in midair, but I felt like the relationship between Charlie and Kitty was left hanging as well.
I can only hope that that was on purpose, to leave lots of room for further development between those two in the future books. There had better be future books, and SOON! I need me some more Kitty Hawk in my life! Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for a free and honest review.

I have to say I really liked this one! I wasn't sure what I was going into when I saw this was going to be about art theft, because it seemed like it could go one of two ways: either really exciting or just lacklustre. Luckily it was the former. I never would've thought I would be interested in this type of thing, but now it's got me looking for more books about classic art.
That familiar feel of mystery and adventure was still felt in this installment, which I think is a pretty impress 3. That familiar feel of mystery and adventure was still felt in this installment, which I think is a pretty impressive feat by Reading. I have loved seeing Kitty grow throughout these books and become even more of a smart, savvy detective.
I'm also very happy that Charlie is finally back as a major part of the book. It was very interesting to see how Kitty and Charlie act towards each other in real life compared to their emails, and I hope he stays working with Kitty in the next one.
I can't wait to see where Kitty travels to next. Dec 04, Amy booksofmyshka rated it really liked it. Jul 26, Aubrey rated it really liked it. Crazy, crazy busy, but there are always little alleys or back streets with only a few people on them.

No sooner is Kitty on Italian soil than she and Charlie find themselves involved in a very mysterious and alarming set of circumstances. Events spiral as Kitty, Charlie and their new friends are startled by an intruder, find a secret room with a radio receiver and discover there is an unbelievable amount of stolen artwork worth millions. Trying to break seemingly impossible codes and follow the clues takes them all over Europe by way of Salzburg, Vienna, Munich, Bolzano and Nuremberg.
As always, Iain Reading describes the countries and places vividly and interestingly. The lingering atmosphere of horror and sadness is tangible. The story is complemented and strengthened with the addition of lots of information woven into the narrative, and the threads of historical facts in the basis of the plot.
Another captivating and entertaining adventure, rich in details and fascinating facts, with a friendly and enthusiastic heroine. Maybe they will be resolved as Kitty continues on her round the world trip or possibly not. Mar 08, Helois rated it liked it Shelves: just-finished.
I am a huge fan of the Kitty Hawk series, they are always so great with Kitty's spunk, love of adventure and sympathy for all. Well written with a lovely mix of education and adventure. That being said Kitty did not seem herself as it were.
I found the subject matter interesting, spies, art thieves and codes. There just seemed to be long strets I am a huge fan of the Kitty Hawk series, they are always so great with Kitty's spunk, love of adventure and sympathy for all. There just seemed to be long strets of boredom. Kitty is ecstatic as she lands in Italy and makes her way to Rome, not only is she excited to see the sights of Rome and promote Wasabi Willie, but she will also be meeting up with her friend Charlie, who is in town on business.
Charlie you may recall is from the first book, where he kidnaps and then becomes friends with Kitty long storyI recommend you read book 1 anyway, it doesn't take long for Kitty to become involved in another mystery.
This time it is priceless masterpieces, that just so happen to innocently be hanging on a wall in an old apartment No worries Kitty always lands on her feet.
Other than being slightly disappointed, that I didn't like this book as much as the others, mainly because it just seemed kind of boring, though I confess to not being a major art or World War II buff, and perhaps that is why.
This is a serious I believe, would be loved by anyone. I am waiting with baited breath for more about Kitty. All thoughts, opinions and fangirling are my own. May 08, Sarah Workaday Reads rated it really liked it Shelves: read-in This book saw the return of the upbeat, determined, and adventurous Kitty, the one who knows right from wrong, and wants to solve a mystery, in order to help solve an issue.
I was pleasantly surprised that Charlie joined her on this adventure. It was nice to see a returning character, especially one so integral to the original adventure.
Kitty and Charlie have a great sibling-like relationship, and it played out very well in the story.
As always, I learned a lot while reading this story. Most of the information was incorporated into the plot very well, with only a few items really standing out as learning points. Overall, everything is cohesive and entertaining and a great story for readers young and old. Oct 13, Haniya Qamar rated it really liked it. I remember reading this series for the first time and how I totally fell for it!
This book is again another amazing adventure in Kitty's life. BUT in Rome! I mean another reason why I loved this novel was Charlie! She and Charlie are solving a puzzle! Trust me there were so many mind boggling things but in the end it was worth it! The writing style was again amazing! This story was a blend of action, adventure, suspense and mystery. I couldn't stop reading because Charlie!
I love the fact that there is always some kind of information for the readers, both young and old. Overall, I recommend to the readers of all the ages as this is one amazing adventurous read! Feb 05, Mille rated it liked it Shelves: bought-from-amazonbooks-rea children-young-adultfiction. First of all, I read this series out of order. I read book four first, and then went back to read them from the beginning. The series starts with Kitty in Alaska, and finishes with her in Rome, with still probably about more than half of her round-the-world-trip to go.
So where are the rest of the books? I am hoping that the author has just taken a break from writing, until he decides where to send Kitty next on her adventures. But this is a pretty long break I liked the fourth book. I was a bit iffy about the first two, and then the third and fifth books, I think the author was starting to find his feet, and where he wanted the storylines and clues to go.
I wanted to help solve the clues, and uncover the mysteries, which I think were a little lacking from the first two.
The series feels unfinished and the author really needs to do something, as four years is too long to wait for a new part in the series.
Feb 09, Debra Schoenberger rated it it was amazing. Kitty is now in Rome where she will be meeting Charlie, her friend from Alaska. A chance encounter with a thief, a walnut vendor and a scraped leg launch both of them into a totally unexpected international intrigue. We are introduced to Matteo and his two sisters, Vega and Giulia. As Charlie and Kitty are getting to know their new Italian friends, Kitty is admiring the paintings in their home. After having just visited the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam, she has a "feeling" that these paintings Kitty is now in Rome where she will be meeting Charlie, her friend from Alaska.
After having just visited the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam, she has a "feeling" that these paintings may be authentic. No way. Yes way.
Not only are the paintings authentic but the "plot thickens" as Matteo's house is broken into and they discover that their father's home has a secret room housing a radio and transmitter which is still transmitting code. As with all Iain Readings books, we explore history, literature, art, music and this time cryptography.
It was fascinating to learn how codes are written and deciphered.
Like dating agency man in kitty hawk theme, will take
We were also taken on a tour of Dachau and learn some interesting details about Nazi Germany. I just visited the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam recently and could relate to everything they were talking about in the book.
As with the first four books, this book is divided into 54 short chapters which makes reading this book such a breeze mind you, you probably won't want to put it down - it's way too exciting!
Another super interesting Kitty Hawk mystery that will keep up well past your bedtime! I'm sad that there isn't another book in the series. I'm sooo hooked! Charlie is a great partner in this installment and I love that despite they have a great relationship, it was not necessary to add a romantic element to it.
This one is the darkest books in the series, it had more serious moments, especially because of the places she visits, the topics it includes and what's behind the stolen paintings. Another great book in the series.
